Gunman had T-shirt covering his face in Harrison Twp. cellphone store robbery

UPDATE @ 7:50 p.m.: A Metro by T-Mobile store employee was alone when a gunman came into the business at 3505 W. Siebenthaler Ave. in Harrison Twp. and robbed the place Wednesday evening.

The employee wasn’t injured, but could not say for sure whether the robber was acting alone.

“He just came in here and pointed the gun at me,” the employee said in a recording of the 9-1-1 call News Center 7 obtained. “I emptied the register ... I couldn’t tell if he was with anybody ... I don't know if he ran, walked, drove or what.”

The invader was dressed in all dark or black clothing, the employee said, and had wrapped a T-shirt around his face.

“All I could see was his eyes and skin color,” the employee said, noting the robber was a black male. “Other than that, everything else was covered.”

The employee said, “he made me stay in the back [of the store]. Once I heard he was out the door, I counted to ten and I came back up front, and I locked the door and I called you guys.”

A sheriff’s sergeant initially told the News Center 7 crew it wasn’t clear what the robber took. A news release later issued by the sheriff’s office indicated the robber took “an unknown amount of cellphones and cash.”
