Bones found at Grand Lake State Park still not identified

UPDATE @ 10:28 a.m.:

The bones discovered at Grand Lake State Park in January 2016 still have not been identified, however the Sheriff said they have received new results from forensic testing that could suggest other areas of the country the homicide victim may have been from.

During a press conference Wednesday, Sheriff Jeff Grey showed a map that shows several areas of the country shaded as possible locations the victim had lived over the last decade of his life.

So far, Grey said they have fielded 32 tips about the case and 12 remain open tips.

According to Grey, the body was severed at the head and spine and also from the knees and elbows down.

Anyone with information on the possible identity of the person should contact the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.

INITIAL REPORT:

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office will release more information Wednesday about their investigation into a homicide at Grand Lake St. Marys State Park.

Sheriff Jeff Grey will hold a press conference at the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday morning to detail the work being done in the case.

Previously, investigators were able extract a full DNA profile from the bones that were found in January 2016.

Deputies and the Ohio BCI also said earlier in their investigation there was evidence the man was a victim of a homicide.
