Memorial service for Oscar-winning Yellow Springs filmmaker delayed

DAYTON — The celebration of life set for Academy Award winning filmmaker and Yellow Springs native, Julia Reichert, has been postponed.

It was previously scheduled for Friday but is now delayed after her film partner, Steve Bognar, tested for Covid-19, according to a post on social media.

The memorial is now expected to take place sometime in the spring.

There will be a gravesite internment of Reichert’s ashes Saturday morning at 9:45 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery in Dayton. Masking and social distancing is encouraged.

Reichert died last after years of battling bladder cancer.

She was a professor of motion pictures at Wright State.

She was 76-years old.
