Man walks into Dayton hospital with gunshot wound in his back

DAYTON — A man walked into a local Dayton hospital with a gunshot wound to his back early Monday morning.

Dayton Police were dispatched to Miami Valley Hospital on Wyoming Street at 4:38 a.m. on reports of a man with a gunshot wound, Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirmed.

The hospital’s personnel reported the shooting to the law enforcement agency as part of protocol with any patient exhibiting a gunshot wound.

The reporting party informed officers that the man had a gunshot wound in his back. However, the severity of his condition was not disclosed.

Officers initially went near the intersection of North Main Street and East Siebenthaler Avenue in order to find the location of the shooting based on information they received from other agents, according to emergency scanners.

The Dayton Police Department led the investigation into the shooting.
