Man rescued in Wright State trench collapse

UPDATE @ 1:17p.m.:

The man was rescued from the trench and was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital.

He is expected to be OK, according to a Fairborn fire official at the scene.

The man was doing contractor work on a sewer line. He was standing in a trench when something collapsed beneath him, according to the official.

UPDATE @ 12:22p.m.:

Careflight has flown in to the scene to airlift the person injured to a hospital.

FIRST REPORT

Multiple fire and rescue departments are responding to a reported construction accident at Wright State University.

Crews from Fairborn and the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base were called around 11:39 a.m. to the transportation building on WSU's campus.

Early, unconfirmed reports indicate a man fell into a hole or trench that was being dug out with a back hoe.
