MERCER COUNTY — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly two-vehicle crash that killed a Botkins man Wednesday evening.
Jordan E. Fledderjohann, 26, died after his pickup truck was hit by another pickup truck at the intersection of Route 127 and Clover Four Road, according to the OSHP Wapakoneta post.
The crash was reported around 7:22 p.m.
Fledderjohann was traveling west on Clover Four Road when the second truck, driven by Jessica Zapata, 23, of Weslaco, Texas, on Route 127 hit him after he reportedly did not stop at a stop sign.
Both trucks went off the road, with Fledderjohann’s truck hitting a ditch and overturning, throwing him from the vehicle.
Fledderjohann was taken to Mercy Health Mercer County Community Hospital with life-threatening injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Zapata and a 6-year-old passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to the hospital.
Fledderjohann was not wearing a properly adjusted seat belt, according to patrol. Zapata was wearing a seat belt, but the 6-year-old was not.
Both trucks were severely damaged in the crash.
Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor.
The Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, Coldwater Fire and EMS, Montezuma Fire Department and Mercer County Emergency Response Volunteers assisted with the scene.
