Coroner ID’s man found fatally shot in pickup truck in Dayton Saturday

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 10:30 a.m.:

The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office identified the victim found fatally shot in a pickup truck in Dayton on Jerome Avenue Saturday.

Demarco Rutledge, 28, of Dayton, was the man police found inside the vehicle when they arrived on scene.

INITIAL REPORT:

A man has been found dead after police responded to reports of a shooting in Dayton Saturday afternoon.

Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of Jerome Avenue just before 3 p.m., where they found a man fatally shot in a pickup truck.

Sgt. Jeffery Spires on scene said that no shell casings have been found.

News Center 7 crew on scene stated that there appeared to be a bullet hole in one of the windows of the truck, but it is not confirmed whether or not this was a drive-by shooting.

There are currently no suspects in the shooting, but Sgt. Spires stated that this was a homicide scene.

Investigators are currently canvasing the neighborhood to find out more details about the incident.
