Man dead after shooting near local school building Saturday

DAYTON — A man is dead after a shooting in Dayton Saturday evening.

Around 7:10 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of Elsmere Avenue on report of a shooting, according to Dayton Police Lt. Steven Bauer.

Upon arrival, officers located one of two victims. The other victim was transported to an area hospital via private conveyance.

The victim located on the scene, a 37-year-old man, was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Bauer said.

The victim transported to the hospital before officers’ arrival was a 27-year-old man who was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The Dayton Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the shooting.
