Local teen works towards Olympic dream

ENGLEWOOD — Kids across the Miami Valley could be seen sledding down hills following the winter storm last week. While some may be using their imagination to pretend to be winter Olympic athletes racing to the finish line, one local teenager is actually working hard to make her dream of representing the United States one day come true.

Goldie Miller, of Englewood, has been training on luge courses in New York and Ohio, working towards her Olympic dream. She started her luge journey three years ago, staring with on-land training on a soap box derby hill in Columbus.

While traveling 60 mph, pulling 5 G’s similar to aircraft fight pilots down narrow tracks may be frightening to some, Miller said she does not find the sport scary.
