Medical emergencies can happen suddenly, and when you’re in a remote area, it’s safer to be prepared, according to the social media post.
Some safety tips to follow are:
- Letting a family member or friend know where you’ll be hunting and when you expect to return.
- Wear orange when required and make sure you’re visible to other hunters.
- Know what your target is and what’s beyond it, and never shoot at movement or sounds you cannot positively identify.
- Practice firearm safety, treat every firearm as a loaded weapon, and always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
- Keep your phone charged as a way of communication or to know your location if an emergency arises.
- Know your limits since hunting can be physically demanding, so take breaks, stay hydrated, and pay attention to warning signs of medical emergencies.
One more thing is if you tell someone you’ll be home at a certain time, make sure they know to check on you if you do not return.
The goal is simple: to be safe and enjoy hunting.
