Local church, wellness center hosts tornado relief celebration, giveaway

A local church and wellness center is celebrating a kids Back Pack to School Bash today until 2 p.m.

Free backpacks, school supplies, toiletries, snack bags and more are being given away at Abundant Season and American Fitness, 643 Troy Street.

"Today is all about unity in the community. It's all about making sure that every child has everything that they need, every parent has everything that they need,” Dr. Jeanette Robinson, Chief Executive Director for American Fitness and Senior Pastor for Abundance Season said.

This organization has also been a main source for supplies since the tornadoes providing toiletries, baby items, clothes, shoes, food, water and more.

"We been doing this before the tornadoes in Dayton, but since then we've stepped it up, making sure we have a pantry open every day,” Robinson said. “We want to make sure that not only are people filled with food but also filled with faith and love and knowing that we care."
