Kings Island’s Grand Carousel undergoes ‘major restoration’

MASON — In preparation for Kings Island’s 50th anniversary, the Grand Carousel is set to undergo major restorations this offseason.

A spokesperson with Kings Island told us the carousel is the oldest ride at the park. Originally the ride came from Cincinnati’s Coney Island for their inaugural season in 1972.

The carousel was built back in 1926 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company.

The project includes sanding and cleaning, repairing hoofs and tails, replacing jewels, touching up paint, and varnishing to make the ride look new again.
