Kings Island bringing back original red, white and blue colors on ‘The Racer’

MASON — The Racer at Kings Island will soon be sporting a new look.

By the time Kings Island opens for its 50th anniversary season in April, the park says the coaster will be painted its original red, white and blue colors.

The Racer, which features two coasters that go head to head, was one of the park’s original rides. The twin-track wooden roller coaster has not been fully repainted since 1991, when the original colors were changed to black and white, the park said.

According to the park, more than 107 million guests have taken a ride on The Racer – the most in park history. Its record year was 1976, when a single-season park-record 3.6 million rides were given.

Kings Island will officially open up to season pass holders on April 15 and to all guests on April 16.
