Juvenile arrested after crashing stolen vehicle in Harrison Twp. Sunday morning

HARRISON TWP. — Deputies arrested a male juvenile around 4:20 a.m. after he allegedly stole a vehicle from a Marathon gas station on Riverside Drive and crashed it minutes later on Rosemary Avenue.

A car was reported stolen from the gas station in Harrison Twp. at 4:15 a.m. Investigators responded to the scene and found that a black Chevy Sonic four-door sedan had been stolen.

“Preliminary investigation revealed the registered owner of the Chevy Sonic left the keys to her vehicle on the driver’s seat,” deputies said.

Not long after the car was reported stolen, offices were dispatched to Rosemary Avenue on a report of a car into a structure.

After arriving, officers quickly realized that the crashed car was the same one that was stolen from the Marathon gas station, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Investigators believe that when three male juveniles exited the Marathon gas station, they observed the unsecured vehicle and fled the parking lot in it.

The victim’s purse was found on Forest Park Drive where the juveniles reportedly tossed it from the car when they fled.
