JJJ Childcare reaches settlement with state following alleged sex offense

TROY — The owners of JJJ Childcare in Troy have surrendered their license to operate a childcare center months after the center had its license suspended when one of its workers, the owner’s son, was arrested on a sex charge.

Andrew T. Cain, 35, was charged with gross sexual imposition on July 29 and was released from jail after posting bond the next day. The charges stem for an incident reported to involve a 10-year-old girl who attended the day care.

An agreement was reached between the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services and the owners of JJJ Childcare, Janeen and John Cain Jr., late last month.

As part of the agreement the owners cannot apply for a new license to operate a child care facility for five years nor can they operate or have any decision-making or administrative role in any other facility for five years, said Bret Crow, spokesman for Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.

Andrew Cain’s case is still awaiting a hearing in front of a Miami County Grand Jury.
