Is Ohio a good state to raise a family? Here’s where it ranks

DAYTON — A new list ranking the best states for families has been released and Ohio did not crack the top 20.

WalletHub, a personal finance website, has released its annual list of the best and worst states for families. The ranking compared the 50 states across 50 key indicators of family-friendliness, including median annual family income, housing affordability, entertainment, and school quality.

TRENDING STORIES:

Ohio was ranked 24th overall with a total score of 53.44.

The Buckeye State ranked 13th for both family fun and affordability but ranked 43rd for socioeconomics, 33 for education and childcare, and 23rd for health and safety.

So which states are the best for families? Massachusetts came in on top, followed by Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, and New Hampshire.

On the other end of the list, New Mexico was ranked the worst state for families. Mississippi, West Virginia, Nevada, and Oklahoma were also among the five worst states for families.
