The victim, described as an 85-year-old man, was found around 3:30 a.m. bleeding inside a break room at a Rumpke facility on East Monument Avenue in Dayton.

A preliminary investigation found two burglars forced their way into the man’s home on Wileray Drive, Miamisburg police Detective Sgt. Jeff Muncy said.

After taking items from the house, the burglars forced the man into his own car, drove him to an ATM and ordered him to withdraw money, Muncy said.

The man was then driven to the Rumpke facility and was left there until he was discovered by the worker around 3:30 a.m.

Police called the incident isolated, saying the victim knew at least one of the suspects and they were recently at his house. The relationship between the suspect and victim wasn’t immediately known, Muncy said.

Police are still investigating how the suspects got away after abandoning the man and his car at the Rumpke facility.

The car was still at the facility Thursday afternoon and was being processed by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Muncy said.

Additional details were not released.
