Investigation involving former Springboro PE teacher now in prosecutor’s hands

WARREN COUNTY — The case involving former Springboro schools physical education teacher John Austin Hopkins has been turned over to the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office for review, according to school officials.

District officials couldn’t elaborate on the specifics of the case, however, they did say that numerous families were involved in the investigation.

Previously, a Cincinnati-based attorney who said she’s representing one of the alleged victims has said the allegations against Hopkins involve sexual misconduct.

Hopkins has not been charged in the case.

The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office said they will not comment on the investigation since it is ongoing.

Hopkins taught gym at Clearcreek Elementary and Springboro Intermediate.

Earlier this month, Springboro police Chief Jeff Kruithoff said investigators were working on getting through interviews at the child advocacy center, which is part of the investigation into the former physical education teacher and allegations he acted inappropriately with students.
