Suspicious tool bag deemed safe, road reopens in Harrison Twp.

HARRISON TWP. — The Dayton Bomb Squad was called out to Harrison Twp. Wednesday morning after deputies got reports of a suspicious package.

This happened just after 10 a.m. when deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) responded to the 6000 block of N. Dixie Drive.

A tool bag that was “suspicious in nature” was found, a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said.

“When deputies arrived to investigate, they found circuit boards and wires exposed from the bag. Therefore, out of an abundance of caution, we secured the area and requested the assistance from the bomb squad,” the spokesperson said.

An investigation determined that the bag was not a threat to public safety.

The investigation shut down N. Dixie Drive between Gipsy and Republic drives.
