5 injured in rollover crash with ambulance

An ambulance with a patient inside rolled onto its side in a crash this afternoon that sent five people to the hospital.

The West Alexandria medic collided with a car at 3:44 p.m. at Diamond Mill Road and U.S. 35 in New Lebanon, according to Lt. David Woodgeard of the New Lebanon Fire Department.

"There were five victims; all have been transported to local facilities," Woodgeard said. "None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening at this time."

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Exactly four minutes earlier, a motorcycle and car collided nearby in the 2100 block of West Main Street.

The West Alexandria medic had not been responding to that crash, according to dispatchers, however, it is not clear if the ambulance was in the area through mutual aid because local medics were responding to the other crash.

The motorcyclist was taken to a local hospital in that crash.

We're working to learn more about what caused both crashes and will update this report as we get new details.
