4 injured in crash on U.S. 42 in Clark County

UPDATE @ 8:15 p.m. (Oct. 12): The injury vehicle crash Sunday on U.S. 42 that sent four people to hospitals remains under investigation, the Ohio Highway Patrol said Monday evening.

Jeffrey Dempsey, 21, of South Charleston, remains in Miami Valley Hospital in fair condition. He was taken there after state patrol investigators said he rear-ended a vehicle that had stopped to turn into a private drive.

Dempsey was headed east on 42 (Columbus-Cincinnati Road) in a Ford Focus when the accident occurred near Selma Road just after 2 p.m.

Dempsey suffered serious injuries in the accident, the patrol said.

The three people in the Kia Sedona — 22-year-old driver Tyler Scott, and passengers David and Carolyn Scott, 61 and 59 — were all taken to Greene Memorial Hospital suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

All of them are South Charleston residents.

A medical helicopter was called today to a serious crash on U.S. 42.

The crash happened early this afternoon on Columbus-Cincinnati Road (U.S. 42) near Selma Pike.

The Ohio Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post remains on scene and will be releasing information about the crash later this evening, according to the patrol.
