MIAMI VALLEY — Ice pellets are falling across the Miami Valley and could continue to impact the area during the afternoon commute.
“The instability or energy from the sunshine is allowing the showers to produce a slightly stronger updraft. The cold air that is in place above us allowed for ice pellets to form in some of the stronger showers this afternoon,” explained Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini.
An upper level low over the Great Lakes is responsible for the condition that could lead to the ice pellets falling for some. No accumulation is expected.
Already, reports of ice pellets have come in from Centerville, Miami County and Waynesville in Warren County.
