‘I really didn’t think I was gonna make it;’ Woman kidnapped, held hostage in Clark Co. speaks out

CLARK COUNTY — A man is in jail after Clark County investigators said he held two women hostage for hours, tying them up in a basement.

Tuesday night, deputies arrested Charles Womack in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He is facing assault and kidnapping charges.

One woman managed to get free and make a call to 911 for help.

News Center 7 obtained that 911 call through a public records request.

“I need a squad here immediately someone fell down the stairs five hours ago. I’ve been hogtied choked with an extension cord,” she said to dispatchers.

That woman is Sarah Parker who tells dispatchers her roommate is bleeding next to her.

“She’s bleeding from a broken leg at least one there’s blood everywhere,” Parker said.

This happened when Parker’s boyfriend, Womack, got into an argument with her roommate.

“He was asked to leave when he started arguing with my tenant and he didn’t leave that’s when he shoved her,” Parker said.

That’s when Parker said Womack barricaded the two women in the basement before leaving.

“I can’t get the door open I’ve tried the basement bat, hurry please,” Parker told dispatchers.

“You will not stay stuck down there I promise,” the dispatcher told Parker.

The dispatcher stayed on the line with Parker as she cared for her roommate.

“You’re doing a great job taking care of your friend,” the dispatcher said.

Help finally came. Parker told dispatchers she was now with deputies.

Parker spoke with News Center 7′s Kayla McDermott and was in tears as she remembered feeling she and her roommate might not make it.

She said she had been dating Womack off and on for a few months. The argument between her roommate and Womack happened.

“She just said ‘I don’t really think it’s appropriate for you to talk about Sarah. If you do you say bad things about her,’” Parker said.

This is when she said Womack “went off.”

As her roommate walked away to go downstairs to the basement and call the police to get Womack to leave, he shoved her down the stairs.

“I clearly heard him shove her down the stairs, he hit her hard,” Parker said.

She aid Womack then bound her and forced her into his car as the two drove around for hours.

“I even thought about trying to jump out of the car, but then I thought he would just run me over,” she said.

Parker said Womack eventually brought her back to the house and down the basement where her roommate was still lying.

“She was bleeding I thought she was gonna die,” Parker said.

Womack locked Parker in another room where she thought she was also going to die.

“I thought both my kids were not gonna have a parent at all. I really didn’t think I was gonna make it. I really really didn’t,” Parker said.

Luckily there was a satellite phone in the basement and Parker called for help.

“They said we would have never gotten out of the basement he had barricaded it with a couch in a chair,” she said.

Even though Parker is okay physically, she is struggling mentally with the traumatic event.

She said she is going to visit her roommate in the hospital who had to have surgery on her leg.

Womack was arrested at gunpoint in Indiana and is now facing multiple charges.
