A man found dead in his home Sunday died of ligature strangulation, the Montgomery County Coroner's Office said today.
Jeffrey Lewis Sr., 54, of Dayton, was found slain in the 1500 block of England Avenue just after 11 a.m. A 911 caller reported finding Lewis lying on his living room floor. He told police officers he was "in fear for his life" less than two months ago, according to reports.
Police have said Lewis was targeted, and it was not a random incident.
Investigators said he had apparently been dead for at least 24 hours prior to being found.
A Dayton police report from Sept. 29 states Lewis told officers he was "in fear for his life" after an argument with a family member.
Police had no one in custody in relation to the homicide on Monday.
