Help Red Cross install free smoke alarms during ‘Sound the Alarm’ campaign

The Red Cross is asking for the public's help to install free smoke alarms in two weeks.

The Northern Miami Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross is seeking volunteers to help install 50 free smoke alarms in local homes throughout the northern Miami Valley during the two-week period of "Sound the Alarm", according to a release.

Volunteers can register at SoundTheAlarm.org to be a part of the campaign that runs from April 27 to May 12.

The Red Cross is also seeking volunteers to pre-canvas in select neighborhoods to leave door hangers that encourage residents to schedule appointments for alarm installations.

Sound the Alarm is part of the Red Cross Home Fire Campaign, which has installed over 1.5 million smoke alarms and saved over 500 lives in the U.S. since launching in 2014, the release stated. Locally, 40 lives saved can attribute to Red Cross installed smoke alarms.
