LORAIN COUNTY — A suspect is on the run after escaping police custody in Ohio.

Elyria Police Captain Bill Lantz told CBS-affiliate WOIO, that officers were sent out to an apartment in the 200 block of Washington Ave. at 8:44 p.m. Monday for a welfare check.
When they arrived, they said they found Donte Jamar Parker II hiding inside the apartment.

Parker has several outstanding felony warrants, WOIO reported.
He was placed into custody and while being walked out of the building, he then escaped and ran away on foot.
Parker is also now facing new charges of weapons under disability, escape, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest.
