German Twp. house fire claims second fatality

A second victim in a German Twp. house fire has died.

Travis Robbins, 25, died Saturday after being in a Dayton hospital for almost a week after the fire that also killed Jaclyn Russell Wise, 28, who died at the scene.

Robbins was rescued from the home and appeared to have inhaled a substantial amount of smoke. He was not breathing and was unresponsive when first rescued, but was breathing and conscious before arriving at the hospital, said German Twp. Fire Chief Tim Holman.

The Montgomery County Coroner's Office confirmed Robbins' body was brought to the coroner's office on Saturday.

Two children rescued from the fire -- 3-year-old Victoria Wise and 5-year-old William Wise Jr. -- have been released from Dayton Children's Hospital and are with their grandparents, Holman said.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, the chief said.

The house has been released back to its owner, but State Fire Marshal's investigators are still reviewing information from the fire before an official cause can be released. The fire did not appear to be suspicious and most of the blaze was contained to the bedroom where Russell Wise was found, Holman said.

He also noted there were no working smoke detectors in the home.
