TROTWOOD — Gateway Cathedral reopened its sanctuary’s doors for the first time in almost seven years this afternoon.
Pastor Norman J. Scearce told News Center 7 that reopening Gateway has been “a very long time coming.”
“We purchased this building seven years ago and we’ve been renovating it since then,” Scearce said.
Over $500,000 had been invested into Gateway Cathedral’s efforts to get the sanctuary reopened.
Scearce said they faced a number of setbacks due to the Memorial Day tornadoes and the COVID-19 pandemic. After overcoming the setbacks, he said the congregation was “elated” to be able to celebrate Easter specifically.
“On Easter no less, the embodiment of resurrection and coming back from the point of no return,” Scearce said.
