Gas prices are going up again.
Wednesday, AAA said the national average is $3.36, a 20-cent increase from last month — even though gas is in lower demand this time of year.
In January, AAA said more people tend to stay off the roads because of bad weather and the cold, but current prices don’t seem to reflect that.
Michelle Htoon-Boehme is traveling through three states for her birthday and said so far Ohio has the most expensive gas.
“Before we were in West Virginia and we were in Maryland so this is the highest so far,” Htoon-Boehme said.

But while there isn’t a demand for gasoline, the price increase is due to the surge in demand for oil, AAA said.
“Oil markets have seen renewed strength as China sees a boom in demand as Covid restrictions have been eased, with heavy import quotas driving concern that oil markets remain tight,” GasBuddy said in a statement.
Htoon-Boehme said while she has to pay almost $40 a tank of gas, it still beats flying.
“It’s easier than a plane flight right now, the airplane price for their fuel is more than our fuel,” she said.
