As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, expected ice totals are 1/10″ to 1/4″ across much of the region. People further north may see totals above 1/4″.

News Center 7 crews saw ice forming on cars, trees, powerlines, and more.

Some people said they aren’t looking forward to scraping the ice off their cars.

“It froze really fast,” Dayton resident Ryan Jackson.

Jackson said he loves winter, but the freezing rain sticking to his truck was not fun.

“I just scraped it off right before I went into the gas station to get some gas and then it froze right back up,” Jackson said.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) said its trucks started putting down brine around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

“ODOT and the City of Dayton, they always make sure the highways are good and clear so that’s one thing I always love about the city,” Jackson said.

Sometimes drivers can’t see or prepare for the slick spots on the roads.

“There’s no rush, give yourself a little bit extra time,” Jackson said.

This kind of weather makes most people want to stay inside.

“I’m going straight home, straight home. I got Chipotle waiting for me at home so yeah, I’m ready to go,” Jackson said.

For those on the roads Wednesday night into Thursday morning, use extra caution and consider leaving earlier than normal.
