Winter Storm Warning issued; accumulating snow expected to cause slippery road conditions

A Winter Storm Warning has been issued for Butler, Warren, and Clinton County until 7 a.m. Tuesday

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Butler, Champaign, Clark, Clinton, Greene, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Warren counties until 7 a.m.

DETAILED FORECAST:

TONIGHT: It will be cloudy with snow showers developing this evening into the first part of the night, said Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist McCall Vrydaghs. Accumulating snow near 1 to 3 inches is possible in the Dayton area overnight. Higher snow totals could come south of Dayton.

Roads will become snow covered and slippery creating hazardous travel conditions into the early morning commute, Vrydaghs said. The winter weather advisory has been issued for part of the Miami Valley due to the risk of travel complications.

TUESDAY: A messy morning commute with snow covered roads mainly in the southern half of the Miami Valley is expected.

A few stray snow showers will be possible. Otherwise it will be cloudy and chilly with highs in the upper 20s.

WEDNESDAY: Snow likely for much of the day on Wednesday with accumulations expected. A significant ice event may happen south of the Ohio River. Highs will only reach the middle 20s.

THURSDAY: Snow flurries will be possible with only a light accumulation expected. More chilly temperatures with highs in the upper 20s.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy and bitterly cold with a few lingering flurries in the morning. Temperatures during the day will only reach the lower 20s, dropping into single digits for the overnight hours.

SATURDAY: Scattered snow showers will develop on Saturday. It will be breezy and very cold with highs around 20 degrees.
