Fort Rowdy Gathering returns to Miami County this weekend

COVINGTON — Local historians will be getting “rowdy” in Covington this weekend for the Fort Rowdy Gathering. The event returns after being cancelled last year due to COVID-19.

Historians in the area are remembering the days of Fort Rowdy in the late 1700s at the Village Park, along the banks of the Stillwater River.

Food, music, costumed actors and an encampment on the river are just some of the activities available for visitors.

The event gets its name from a fort built by General “Mad” Anthony Wayne near the Stillwater River. The fort was named Fort Rowdy after the conduct of the soldiers stationed there during the Indian Wars.

The event runs through Sunday. More details can be found here.
