Timothy Boggs, 51, faces charges for alleged incidents that occurred between Oct. 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025.
Boggs served as the girls’ soccer coach at Northwestern Local Schools in Wayne County for three seasons from 2023 to 2025, according to CBS-affiliate WOIO.
Boggs resigned from his position at the district on Feb. 25, 2026, with his last official contact with the team occurring in November 2025.

Northwestern Local Schools Superintendent Julie McCumber stated that the district complied with all reporting requirements and contacted families of former players after learning of the charges.
“The allegation concerning Mr. Boggs purportedly stems from an incident that allegedly occurred outside of his role as a scholastic coach and was not connected to his employment with our district,” McCumber said in a release.
The indictment alleges Boggs engaged in sexual activity with a minor while serving as an athletic coach or leader in a position of temporary disciplinary control.
Assistant Prosecuting Attorney David Haverfield detailed the allegations in documents regarding bail conditions.
“Defendant was a youth coach and private instructor for the victim in this matter, an athlete in a private club where Defendant was her coach,” Haverfield said. “Defendant used that relationship to facilitate a sexual relationship with the victim. Defendant poses a risk of harm to other students in the community.”
Boggs also served as a coach for the Ohio Strikers United Soccer Academy.
The organization released a statement saying they adhere to all recommended hiring practices, including mandatory background checks and compliance with U.S. Center for SafeSport requirements.
The club stated that the allegations have shaken the community and that the safety of players remains its highest priority.
Records show Boggs’ bond was set at $100,000.
As part of his release conditions, he is ordered to have no contact with the victim and is prohibited from serving as a coach or instructor for anyone under age 18.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office also listed an ICE detainer for Boggs, which allows federal immigration authorities to assume custody for up to 48 hours beyond a scheduled release time.
Boggs is scheduled to return to court on April 22 for a pretrial hearing.
