Former childcare worker faced with sex charge

KETTERING — A former worker at the Rainbow Child Care Center in Beavercreek has been fired after he was arrested at the facility late last month on a charge of gross sexual imposition. However, the care center said the charges do not involve the center or its children.

“It's our understanding is that these charges have nothing to do with our center, nor do they have anything to do with any of the children in our care,” KinderCare, the managing agency of the facility, said in a prepared statement. “Although there's a lot we don't know right now, we decided the best decision for our center would be to end Mr. Baker's employment.”

Baker was indicted Thursday after he was accused of touching the private area of an 8-year-old boy in July or August of 2018, court records read.

The alleged incident happened at an apartment in Kettering.

KinderCare said Baker was placed on administrative leave from his position at Rainbow Child Care Center following his arrest by Kettering police at the facility.

He was fired the same day he was indicted.

Baker was still listed as an inmate in the Montgomery County Jail Wednesday morning.
