Firefighters were dispatched around 8:30 a.m. to the house in the 700 block of Webster Street and reported heavy smoke coming from the house.

Investigators are working to determine if the house was either occupied with a resident or by squatters however no injuries were reported in the fire. Firefighters said they encountered hoarding conditions while trying to battle the flames inside.

The fire originated in the basement of the house, however the potential cause of fire is still under investigation.

Firefighters said they faced a delayed response time in getting to the house due to poor, snow-covered road conditions but didn’t have any water supply issues to get water on the fire.

The house has been declared a total loss.
