Fire causes extensive damage to Dayton home on Ashwood Avenue

DAYTON — The occupant of a Dayton home will be displaced after a fire ignited and caused significant damage to the house Monday morning.

Crews were dispatched to the home in the first block of Ashwood Avenue around 8:45 a.m. and reported heavy smoke was coming from the structure.

The man who lived in the home had left, but returned to find the smoke coming from the house. Investigators said the man was able to get his dog out of the house and called 911.

No injuries were reported.

A neighboring house sustained some damage from the heat of the fire, but firefighters described the damage as minor.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
