Investigators search for cause of suspicious fire in Dayton duplex

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 2:53 a.m.:

Fire investigators are looking for the cause of a fire in a duplex in the 1600 block of Xenia Avenue, according to fire officials on scene.

One police officer was injured in the fire, officials said, when the officer was bitten on the finger by a puppy that was found in the house.

Officials said that the fire seemed suspicious.

The left side of the duplex was occupied, while the right side was bring renovated, they said.

INITIAL REPORT:

Fire crews are responding to a report of a house fire in the 1600 block of Xenia Avenue in Dayton.

Firefighters in scanner traffic said there was a two-story house with a well-involved fire.
