Dozens of homes damaged after severe storm hits Butler Co.

MADISON TOWNSHIP — Many are now starting the process of clearing damage caused by severe storms that hit the area Monday afternoon.

One of the areas hit hardest was Madison Township in Butler County.

The National Weather Service confirmed they will be conducting damage surveys near Middletown Tuesday to determine if a tornado touched down.

“This was a pretty significant weather impact,” Matt Haverkos, director of Butler County’s Emergency Management Agency said.

Haverkos said the storms damaged homes for about a dozen residents in the county.

Once the weather moved out, EMA crews went to those houses to make sure everyone was safe.

He said the county has not been alerted of any injuries and wanted to remind the public to be “weather aware.”

“What I encourage folks is when you do see that there’s notices coming out from your local emergency management agency, the National Weather Service, or your local media, you take those and you heed those,” Haverkos said.

The Red Cross is in the area helping those who have to find someone else to stay Monday night.
