Dog rescued in fatal Huber Heights fire continues recovery

HUBER HEIGHTS — A dog rescued and resuscitated by firefighters at a Huber Heights home that caught fire, killing the female resident, is recovering at a local veterinarian clinic, county officials said.

The tan miniature pinscher was transported to Med Vet, where a veterinarian observed the dog overnight.

The fatal fire was reported in the 6400 block of Prairie Creek Court Tuesday afternoon.

The dog was being given pain medication and oxygen therapy Wednesday and was expected to remain at the facility through the day and possibly tonight.

A family member of the fire victim is expected to care for and adopt the animal after it’s released, county officials said.

County officials said the vet clinic was planning to perform an ultrasound on the lungs of the dog to get a better idea of any damage that may have resulted from the fire.
