A man involved in a dirt bike crash on Spring Street in Xenia this past weekend has passed away, according to Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

David L. Hill, 26, of Xenia was in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital after he lost control of the dirt bike he was driving, wrecked into a curb, and ejected 20 some feet, according to officials.

Xenia police said Hill was not wearing a helmet, and suffered significant head injuries as a result.

Colyn Hall, a family friend of Hill’s, informed us that he passed away this week, leaving behind a 2-year-old son.

Hall also said that family and friends will gather in the coming days to celebrate Hill’s life.

A Xenia man in his mid-20s suffered critical head injuries this afternoon after he crashed his dirt bike on Spring Street in Xenia.

“He lost control of the motorcycle (dirt bike), wrecked into a curb, was ejected 20 some feet,” said Sgt. Scott Beegle of the Xenia Police Division.

The victim did not crash into a tree, which earlier reports indicated. He is receiving intensive care and is in critical condition at Miami Valley Hospital. The dirt bike rider was not wearing a helmet and suffered significant head injuries, Beegle said.

Police do not suspect alcohol, but the single-vehicle crash remains under investigation, the sergeant said.

FIRST REPORT

A dirt bike rider hit a curb and then crashed into a tree this afternoon in Xenia.

Neighbors said the dirt bike rider appeared to be a man in his 20s, and that he was not wearing a helmet.

The crash was reported around 3:20 p.m. at Home Avenue and Spring Street.

The crash victim was taken by life squad to Miami Valley Hospital. His name and condition were not available.
