COLUMBUS — Gov. Mike DeWine has launched a task force to address the quality of nursing homes in the state.
Ohio has nearly 960 nursing homes, the third largest number of nursing homes in the country, according to an executive order DeWine signed Friday.
DeWine said 40 percent of Ohio’s nursing homes have had a decline in their Overall Nursing Facility CMS Star Rating since 2018.

The task force will consist of up to 20 people selected by DeWine.
They will be asked to provide nursing homes with resources they need to improve, give oversight and accountability to reduce resident risk, empower residents and ensure data transparency and viability into resident well-being, according to the executive order.
The task force will be asked to provide DeWine with an “actionable report” by May 26.
