DAYTON — A Dayton woman was one of three family members killed in a rear-end collision this week in Santa Cruz County, Arizona.
Roxanna Diaz, 30, was a passenger in the vehicle that crashed into the rear of another vehicle Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 19, nogalesinternational.com reported Wednesday.
According to an Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman, the crash occurred in the community of Tumacacori after traffic had begun to slow in the northbound lanes because of another collision ahead.
That was when a vehicle carrying Roxanna Diaz, 18-year-old driver Nicole Diaz of Nogales, a 17-year-old female from Nogales and a fourth passenger rear-ended a vehicle in front of it, the DPS spokesman said.
The fourth passenger in the Diaz vehicle was taken to a hospital. That person's condition was not known.
The driver of the vehicle that was rear-ended was unhurt, according to DPS.
“The climate was described as heavy rain at the time of the collision,” the DPS spokesman told nogalesinternational.com.
