Dayton postpones Operation Santa Sleigh 2022 due to weather conditions

Operation Santa Sleigh caravan lights up Dayton Children’s Hospital

DAYTON — First responders across the state of Ohio will be participating in Operation Santa Sleigh for the 2022 year.

However, the event that was scheduled for Friday, December 23, has been postponed to Wednesday, December 28.

The event invites all first responders to ride their public safety vehicles to visit Children’s Hospitals and Veterans Hospitals in a parade-like drive.

The event will feature public safety vehicles shining their emergency light system to add to the holiday lights.

A Santa Claus will also be in tow to bring the holiday spirits, according to Ohio State Highway Patrol’s promotional video on Facebook.

Operation Santa Sleigh was intended to occur simultaneously on Friday, December 23rd in seven different cities throughout Ohio to raise “the spirits of the patients, their families, and the staff at the locations visited,” a spokesperson for the event stated.

However, due to the first winter storm of the season snowing many parts of Ohio including Miami Valley, the event has been postponed to Wednesday, December 28, the spokesperson informed News Center 7.

Operation Santa Sleigh will be staged at Dayton Airport Expo Center at the 3900 block of McCauley Drive in Vandalia.

The expected departure time is expected to be 6:30 p.m.
