News Center 7 previously reported that Dayton Police and Fire were dispatched to the 5000 block of West Third Street at around 2 p.m. on reports of a car into a structure, Montgomery County Regional Dispatch confirmed.

We initially reported that the car crashed into Crown Point Beer & Wine Drive Thru. However, a Dayton Police spokesperson corrected our information and stated that the building hit was “vacant” with “no one inside at the time.”

News Center 7 determined that the building hit was a structure next to the drive thru liquor store.

No injuries were reported.

After crashing their car, the driver fled the scene, the spokesperson said.

Dayton Police are still searching for the driver and will be charged with a hit-and-run once identified, the spokesperson informed.

News Center 7 crews responded to the scene and obtained footage of the damage. A witness told our crews that the car crashed during a street race; however, the spokesperson denied the information.

“At this time, there does not appear to be anything that would leads us to believe it was involved in racing leading up to the crash,” the spokesperson said.

We will update this story as it develops.
