DAYTON — More than a hundred Dayton Police officers were honored Friday for their outstanding work in the community.
One of the officers honored was Thadeu Holloway who received a standing ovation.
Holloway was shot in the line of duty but even while injured worked to get everyone out of harm’s way — including the person who shot him.
Dayton Police Chief Kamran Afzal said this is the “essence of law enforcement” as he knows it.

While Officer Holloway’s service stands out Afzal said other officers who sacrifice daily are equally important.
Dayton police will open up applications on Sunday for their next class of recruits.
