DAYTON — Dayton Mayor Jeffrey Mims has declared May 31 “Dayton Made Cheez-It Day” in Dayton.

Mayor Mims stopped by the WHIO radio studio to officially make the proclamation live on The Evening Edge with Todd Hollst.

The proclamation said the Green & Green Company invested, trademarked, and first introduced the “Cheez-It” snack back in 1921.

On Friday, Hollst will do the show live from Carillion Brewing Company to unveil a six-foot-tall Cheez-It statue.

Hollst said he is also working with Carillion Historical Park to get a historical marker put on the old Green & Green factory site.
