Dayton man sentenced to prison for deadly shooting in Red Roof Inn parking lot

DAYTON — A Dayton man has been sentenced to prison for an October 2020 deadly shooting in the parking lot of the Red Roof Inn on Miller Lane.

Da’Jahunn Alexander, 21, was sentenced to 23 years in prison for the shooting death of Jermaine Lewis, 19.

An investigation showed that on Oct. 9, 2020, Alexander was in the backseat of a car when he fired multiple shots at Lewis, who was standing outside of the car.

Medics took Lewis to a local hospital where he later died shortly after arriving.

Alexander pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, tampering with evidence and bribery on January 11, 2022.

He will not be eligible for any type early release, according to Prosecuting Attorney Mat Heck, Jr.
