Dayton man killed in crash involving tanker truck in Harrison Twp. last week identified

HARRISON TWP. — A Dayton man has been identified as the person killed in a crash involving a box truck and tanker truck last week in Harrison Twp.

Shawn Brown, 36, was identified as the driver of the box truck killed in the crash, according to a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office crash report and the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The crash was reported June 30 at approximately 7:51 a.m. at the intersection of Needmore Road and Webster Street.

A tanker truck was traveling west on Needmore Road when it was hit on its passenger side by a box truck that was heading south on Webster Street through the intersection, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office. A crash report stated that Brown failed to stop for a red light.

The crash caused the tanker truck to overturn onto its side.

Both the tanker truck and box truck caught on fire which was put out by the Harrison Twp. Fire Department.

Brown was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the tanker truck was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries.
