Dayton man indicted for June deadly double shooting

DAYTON — A Dayton man, who has been in jail since June, is now facing murder and other felony charges for a deadly double shooting that happened several days before his arrest.

Henry Lamar Harris, 31, was indicted on two counts of murder, five counts of felonious assault and three weapons charges for the shooting death of Lajuan Black on June 13. A second person who was shot survived their injuries.

Officers responded to the shooting in the 2700 block of Wentworth Avenue and found two people had been shot.

“Further investigation determined the defendant had approached a vehicle that had three occupants inside and fired multiple rounds into the vehicle, striking the two victims, before fleeing,” prosecutors said in a statement.

When the shooting happened, Harris was out of jail on bond for two other pending cases, prosecutors said. He also was given intervention in lieu of conviction for an aggravated possession of drugs case three months prior to the shooting.

Harris is scheduled for arraignment on Jan. 18.
