MIAMISBURG — David’s Bridal has filed a Worker Adjustment Retraining Notification (WARN) with the state of Ohio, listing locations they will likely close. That list includes two locations in our area.

In the WARN notice filed April 14, David’s Bridal identified their locations in Miamisburg, on Prestige Place Drive, and West Chester Twp., in the Voice of America Centre, as two of more than 290 locations that may close unless the company is bought. David’s Bridal has 12 Ohio locations, according to the notice.

“The employment sites at which the mass layoff and/or plant closing will likely occur are all of the Company’s locations,” the WARN notice stated.

While the WARN notice in Ohio does not specify the number of employees impacted, a notice to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry from the company stated that 9,236 layoffs were expected nationwide. The first set of layoffs happened April 14 and two more phases are expected to roll out from May 13 to 27 and June 12 to Aug. 11.

David’s Bridal filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy earlier this week. It was the second time in five years that David’s Bridal has filed for bankruptcy.

This time, however, David’s Bridal is looking to sell to another company, but pledged to keep the almost 300 stores and websites in operation during the process, CNN reported.

“David’s Bridal stores remain open, and the Company intends to continue operating in the ordinary course, including by fulfilling all customer orders without disruption or delay,” the company said in a release announcing the filing.

If a sale is not successful, the Pennsylvania-based company may have to close all stores and liquidate its holdings, CNN reported.
